Kathmandu: In a landmark move, the government has initiated the process of appointing the Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University (TU) through open competition for the first time.
The Committee Formed to Select and Recommend the TU Vice-Chancellor has issued a public notice today, inviting applications from qualified individuals to participate in the open competition.
This unprecedented step aligns with the declaration made by Prime Minister and Chancellor of TU, Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda,' emphasizing the appointment of the TU Vice-Chancellor based on merit, thereby ending political appointments in the country's largest and oldest university.
The notice from the recommendation committee reflects the commitment of the Prime Minister to meritocracy in the selection process. For the upcoming appointment, the committee will consider the qualifications, experiences, concept papers, and four-year action plans submitted by the applicants.
